Anne Hathaway will take on the role of a former drug addict in Jonathan Demme’s family drama Rachel Getting Married.

Hathaway will play Kym, a young woman who has spent the past ten years in and out of drug rehabilitation centres who comes home for her sister’s wedding.

"It was so much fun to be the combustible element in a scene. I have never played a character like this before," Hathaway said of her new role. "It's kind of fun to be the centre of the turmoil. I enjoyed playing so many of my roles but Kym was definitely by far the most complex.”
