Chris Pine To Take On Jack Ryan

Star Trek's Chris Pine, reports Variety is in negotiations with Paramount Pictures to play the CIA analyst Jack Ryan from the Tom Clancy novels.

Pine, who starred in numerous movies but gained recognition for his role of the young James T. Kirk, is currently filming a Tony Scott-directed movie, Unstoppable alongside Denzel Washington.

Although no firm decision has been made Variety reports that Pine is expected to come on board the Jack Ryan movie as the project takes shape. No word yet if Pine will make another Star Trek movie before he takes on the Jack Ryan role.

Should Pine accept the offer, he will be the fourth actor to play the CIS analyst. Previous actors includes Alec Baldwin for The Hunt For Red October, Harrison Ford for Patriot Games and Clear And Present Danger and Ben Afflect for The Sum Of All Fears.

Author Tom Clancy has written 12 books based on Jack Ryan, once a CIA deputy director and later a US President.
