Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker, 28 Weeks Later) is being considered to play Hawkeye the archer in upcoming Marvel Studios productions, Empire Magazine reports.

Hawkeye won't get his own movie yet, but may show up in one of the upcoming "A-list" hero flicks like Thor or Captain America and then becoming part of the planned Avengers movie in 2012.

According to the actor, no definite offer has been made yet although he's spoken to Marvel execs.

Hawkeye, alias Clint Barton, is a master marksman with bow and arrow whose skills border on the uncanny. He has been both hero and villain.

In the current Marvel comics, Barton has gone rogue while the Hawkeye identity has been assumed by sadistic killer Bullseye. Yes, this ain't your daddy's Marvel Universe any more.
