“PICK and Mix” groups need not be that bad, especially when P. Diddy makes the decisions. It helps that these girls have everything – the face, the body and most importantly, the voice.
Danity Kane could be the best girl band this decade now that Destiny’s Child is no more. Just don’t expect anything new from these girls.
Every tune and style has already been experimented or done by either the Pussycat Dolls or indeed, Destiny’s Child. But what they lack in originality they make up for with attitude. A lot of sexy, sultry attitude.
Hot slow tunes are these girls’ forte and when they do it, they can heat up a room in just minutes.
Unlike burlesque group PCD, no one girl dominates a song and each of them has velvety smooth vocals and they show them off on one of the better tunes on the album, Want It.
There are rarely songs on this album that you want to sit down quietly and listen to (except maybe one) because they all seem to bring out the show-girl (or guy) in each of us. I must say that occasionally, they can sound a little too girly and childish!
Still, there is a sensual mix of East and West and the first track, One Shot, combines sitar sounds with the thumping of deep bass drums, resulting in an energetic dance number.
Another highlight is the romantic number, Stay with Me. This is one to sit down and listen to, especially when reminiscing about the one that got away.
This is a great investment if you like to throw a lot of dance parties.
