I’M a huge fan of R&B music, and Brian McKnight is undeniably one of the most respected stars of the genre today. His One Last Cry, Anytime and Find Myself in You were examples of awesome R&B songs, and I was truly looking forward to listening to gems like those on Evolution of a Man. Unfortunately, his latest has failed to impress.

Come to think of it, the eight albums McKnight has released thus far (sans his Christmas ones) aren’t really that fantastic, except for Anytime, and that was way back in 1997!

While the fact that famous artistes like Mariah Carey, Diddy, Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake love working with him might indicate that he is a good producer, I have my reservations. McKnight seems to have a problem translating his great voice and talent into an amazing, awe-inspiring album. The underlying reason, I believe, is because he is not that brilliant at producing.

The singer-songwriter-producer has been nominated 16 times at the Grammys yet has never once won. My friends argue that he doesn’t produce music as well as he can count to five, and I’m starting to believe them.
