Classical music extravaganza
Witness the virtuosity of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) in a classical music extravaganza at Dewan Filharmonik Petronas. (DFP).
The MPO will perform Mahler's monumental The Song of the Earth, a symphony made up of songs whereby each movement is a song with a tenor and soprano.
To perform this work, the MPO will collaborate with soprano Susan Platts and tenor Jeffrey Lloyd-Roberts. This will be Platts’s second collaboration with the MPO. The first one was in season 04/05.
Tenor Roberts’s concert repertoire covers most of the major oratorios, ranging from Bach through Mozart and Verdi to Mahler. He has performed with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and BBC Philharmonic.
Under the baton of its principal conductor Matthias Bamert, these concerts are scheduled for March 10 and 11 at 8.30pm and March 12 at 3pm.
