Star Trek at Studio V
DIEHARD Star Trek fans have been eagerly awaiting May 8, 2009. It is when the latest Star Trek movie opens worldwide. For Malaysia, the movie will be screened a day earlier, on May 7.
This isn’t just another Star Trek adventure featuring one of the many casts that we are familiar with. It’s a brand new cast and this is the movie that takes fans back to the beginning – to the early days of James T. Kirk and his USS Enterprise crew members.
The movie, starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Eric Bana and Winona Ryder, tells the story of a young crew’s maiden voyage on the USS Enterprise. It is a journey where they will be tested and life-long friendships will be formed. The new recruits, including Kirk, must find a way to stop an evil being whose mission threatens mankind.
Fans can finally see how Kirk and Spock’s friendship started.
If you’re one of the many Star Trek fans who just can’t wait to boldly go where all other Trekkers want to go, then head on to Studio V, 1 Utama new wing (Rainforest area) in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, tomorrow. This is where there will be a meeting of Trekkers and bloggers.
In conjunction with next week’s Star Trek release, the AllMalaysian Bloggers Project (AMBP) is organising First Contact @ Studio V. The event has activities lined up for bloggers, Trekkers and members of the public. Registration begins at 1.30pm.
You need to register to participate in the activities lined up, including a Treasure Trek, photo opportunity in the Star Trek captain’s chair, the auction of the same chair, photo session with Star Trek characters, trivia challenge, movie trailers and interviews, and videogames.
There will also be two Star Trek fan cars on display (one of them even has the NCC 1701 number plate!) and those interested in Star Trek costumes can visit the booth of Outpost Cafe & Hobby Centre. Red FM DJs JD and Dilly will be present to entertain the crowd.
These activities culminate with a special advance screening of the movie.
