Soler hits town for Galaxy do
KUALA LUMPUR: Dashing twin musicians Soler were in town yesterday to launch Galaxy’s T Music Festival which will be staged at Bukit Jalil National Stadium next month.
Apart from that, the Macau-born Hong Kong-based Acconci brothers attended a media conference yesterday to promote their latest album Canto.
The younger twin Dino, who will be getting married this November, explained that the album title Canto had a “double meaning.”

“While in English, it is a convenient abbreviation of Cantonese, in Italian, Canto also means singing songs.”
Their latest release Canto includes a cover of veteran Hong Kong singer Paula Tsui’s Fung Dik Gwai Jeet (Windy Season), which has been very well-received.
“I first heard this song on the radio while I was in a car and liked it so much I told my brother about it. Due to its nostalgic feel, for the arrangement, we included elements of our favourite spaghetti westerns from our fondest childhood memories,” mused the elder twin Julio.
The brothers are identical twins and can speak and sing fluently in seven languages: English, Mandarin, Spanish, French, Cantonese, Portuguese and Italian.
Making their Hong Kong debut in early 2005, Soler have released six albums to date.
Right after the press interviews, they were whisked off to do a live interview on 988, which is the event’s official radio station.
Later the same night, they conducted a showcase at Thai Club here and featured as guest judges at the Soler Canto Band Power competition finale, where they performed with the winning band.
The duo will also be performing showcases in other states: tonight at Tin Valley, Ipoh; tomorrow night at Arena Equation, Malacca; and Saturday night at New Jazz & Blues Discovery, Johor Baru.
Soler will also be doing a live interview on 8tv at 4pm today. Fans can also catch the brothers conducting another live interview with 988 at Sense Café, IOI Mall, Puchong this Saturday at 3pm.
The T Music Festival is a five-hour-long marathon concert featuring popular singers from the Asian region. Among other Hong Kong artistes performing are Joey Yung, Justin Lo, Kay Tse, Khalil Fong and Kenny Kwan.
